Khabib Nurmagomedov has been asking for a fight to prove he’s ready for a title, and he just may get that opportunity at UFC 187 versus Donald Cerrone:

A pivotal lightweight bout is in the works for May between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and it might be the easiest piece of matchmaking in UFC history.

According to UFC Tonight’s Ariel Helwani, Nurmagomedov asked to face Cerrone on the Memorial Day weekend card currently set as UFC 186 in Las Vegas.

Sources close to the situation said the fight is now in the works for the card that will take place on May 23 with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones currently rumored for the main event against Anthony Johnson.
