Report: Gustafsson vs. Lil’ Nog at UFC Fight Night 100

Light heavyweights Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Alexander Gustafsson were sheduled to headline the UFC’s debut in Sweden, at UFC on Fuel TV 2 on April 14, 2012. Unfortunately, Lil’ Nog suffered an injury, and was replaced by Thiago Silva. Then Gus and Lil’ Nog were scheduled to fight at UFC Fight Night 37 on March 8, 2014. Unfortunately, Lil’ Nog again suffered an injury; this time he was replaced by Thiago Silva.

Now Brazil’s Combate reports that the pair have been scheduled to fight once again, in the main event of UFC Fight Night 100, on Nov 19, 2016, at Ginásio do Ibirapuera, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main card will broadcast on FOX Sports 1. Gustafsson is ranked the #2 challenger in the division, and Nogueira #9.

Gustafsson fought twice in 2015. In January, he lost a UFC title eliminator to Anthony Johnson via strikes in the first. Then in November he lost a fight of the night split decision to Daniel Cormier for the title. The Swede rebounded on September 3, 2016, taking a decision over Jan Błachowicz.

Lil’ Nog too is 1-2 his last three. In 2014 he lost to Anthony Johnson via strikes in the first. In 2015, he lost a unanimous decision to Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. And then on May 14, 2016, he rebounded with a first round KO of Patrick Cummins.

This will not be the only big fight show on November 19. It won’t even be the only UFC show. UFC Fight Night 99 will air on UFC Fight Pass from Dublin, Ireland in the afternoon. Benson Henderson will challenge lightweight champion Michael Chandler at Bellator 163 in San Jose, California. And Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward will box on an HBO PPV.
