Two-sport ONE world champion Regian Eersel is facing a fresh challenge in his upcoming world title defense at ONE Fight Night 11 on Prime Video this Friday, June 9.

“The Immortal” will put his ONE lightweight muay Thai world title on the line against dangerous Russian standout Dmitry Menshikov in the main event of the star-studded card, which fans in the U.S. and Canada can watch live at 8 p.m. EST with an Amazon Prime subscription.

Eersel is riding an incredible 21-fight winning streak and has largely cleaned out the lightweight striking ranks in his nine victories under the ONE Championship banner so far.

Enter Menshikov, who comes into the promotion after an undefeated stint in European kickboxing organization GLORY.

By his own admission, Eersel was shocked when the Russian knockout artist’s name was raised as an opponent.

“My first thought was, like, a little bit surprised (when Menshikov was offered), of course. But he was the No. 2 in GLORY, so I think he deserves it. And he’s on an unbeaten run. Good for him,” he said.

The Surinamese superstar has inspected Menshikov’s skillset, and he deems him a more-than-worthy challenger thanks to his ferocious KO power.

With 19 knockouts across his 27-1 professional slate, Eersel is right to acknowledge the 25-year-old’s threat. But overall, he remains unfazed.

The two-sport king has seen it all in his 60-4 career, and he hasn’t made any significant changes to his preparation ahead of his meeting with Menshikov at ONE Fight Night 11.

“I didn’t change anything in my training camp. We know he’s very good in boxing, so I just had my focus on boxing a little bit more. And yeah, that’s it. Not many changes,” Eersel said.

“A fight is a fight. When we step in the ring, or the door of the cage closes, the record doesn’t matter. It’s still a fight, you know? It doesn’t matter if he has a thousand fights or two fights – he is coming to beat me. And my goal is to beat him. So, may the best man win.”
