Bec Rawlings and Jojo Calderwood will fight at UFC Fight Night 121 on 19 November 2017 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
The Brisbane Times reports that Bec Rawlings and Jojo Calderwood will fight at UFC Fight Night 121 on 19 November 2017 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. The bout will be contested at flyweight; both fighters will be moving up from strawweight.
The fight was a very long time in the making. The pair were scheduled to fight at Invicta FC 4 on 5 January 2013. Hhowever, Claudia Gadelha dropped out of the main event vs. Carla Esparza for the promotion’s inaugural strawweight championship, so Rawlings stepped for the title, ultimately losing a gutty decision.
Rawlings, 28, is on a two-fight losing streak, to Paige VanZant and Tecia Torres. The latter bout was held at a catchweight as Rawlings missed weight. She is 2-3 overall in the UFC.
Calderwood, 30, is also on a two-fight losing streak, to Jessica Andrade and Cynthia Calvillo. She is 3-3 overall in the UFC.
Both fighters have struggled to make weight. The extra ten pounds should result in both fighters being able to perform even better than usual. Expect an excellent fight.
