This past weekend the UFC held Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas featuring a couple bouts that had an effect in the official rankings. The division that saw the most movement was the featherweight:
Champion : Jose Aldo
1 Chad Mendes
2 Frankie Edgar
3 Conor McGregor
4 Ricardo Lamas
5 Cub Swanson
6 Dennis Bermudez
7 Nik Lentz +1
8 Charles Oliveira +1
9 Max Holloway +1
10 Clay Guida +2
11 Jeremy Stephens
12 Dennis Siver -1
13 Dustin Poirier -7
14 Darren Elkins
15 Hacran Dias ?
As Chad Mendes was already ranked as the number one contender, he did not move from that with his dominating win. Despite the quick loss, Lamas did not drop in the rankings.
Clay Guida won a decision over an unranked fighter in Robbie Peralta, but the effort was enough to move the veteran back into the division’s top tean.
Dustin Poirier, who dominated and finished Diego Ferrera at lightweight, for some reason remained in the featherweight rankings, but dropped seven spots.
