After each live event, the UFC polls various members of the media to update its rankings in each weight division as well as the pound for pound rankings. 

With several meaningful bouts at UFC 171, the welterweight division saw a lot of movement. And what’s most interesting is who the media believes should face Johny Hendricks next for the welterweight title:

After a fight of the night win at UFC 171, Johny Hendricks is now the welterweight champion, but exactly who the number one contender is now is still a question. The media ranked Robbie Lawler in the number one spot, and his close decision loss to Hendricks could lead to a rematch. If you take Lawler out of the equation, the next highest ranked fighter is Rory MacDonald.
