After each live event, the UFC polls various members of the media to update its rankings in each weight division as well as the pound for pound rankings.
With only a couple meaningful bouts at this past weekend’s TUF 18 Finale, mens lightweight rankings is where we saw important movement.
Lighweight Champion: Anthony Pettis
1 Benson Henderson
2 Gilbert Melendez
3 TJ Grant
4 Josh Thomson
5 Nate Diaz +3
6 Rafael dos Anjos
7 Khabib Nurmagomedov
8 Gray Maynard -3
9 Donald Cerrone
10 Jim Miller
At the TUF 18 finale Nate Diaz impressively finished Gray Maynard in the first round and the collective media had the two swap rankings in the top ten.
Another interesting thing that happens between events, is that sometimes the collective media can change their mind and move fighters who didn’t fight at the event.
After defeating Rory MacDonald at UFC 167, Robbie Lawler moved ahead of him and into the third spot. Several weeks removed, MacDonald is now ranked above Lawler in the third sport with Lawler moving to fourth.
