Ralek Gracie defends Sonnen competing in Metamoris 4
Ralek Gracie appeared recently on Inside MMA to discuss with Bas Rutten the propriety of Chael Sonnen competing in Metamoris 4 vs. Andre Galvao.

Metamoris is a submission only event, promoted by Ralek Gracie, son of UFC co-founder Rorion. Metamoris 4 will be co-headlined by Chael Sonnen vs. Andre Galvao, live on Internet PPV on Aug 9 at metamoris.com.
Sonnen is currently under a two-year suspension from mixed martial arts, after testing positive for five drugs prohibited for their use in performance enhancement.
Ralek appeared recently on AXS TV’s Inside MMA, to discuss Sonnen’s appearance on the card.
Gracie began by saying that steroids are not beneficial in Jiu-Jitsu as they cause the user to run out of energy. It is an open secret that steroid use is rampant among BJJ competitors at the highest levels. Gracie also said that EPO, which boosts endurance, is another matter, and something he had not looked into as much.
However, there is no striking in Metamoris, and it is safe to say that Sonnen’s use of PEDs is not likely to be risky for Galvao’s health and safety. As noted on the interview, if Sonnen survives the 20 minutes, it will be a notable victory.
Although Chael Sonnen is a source of controversy, he is unquestionably game to compete with anyone, as he proves once against the three-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship gold medalist.
