In the co-main event of Bellator MMA 138, champion Patricio Freire was on the brink of losing by TKO when the bell signaled the end of the first round. Referee John McCarthy stepped in to stop the action and for a second everyone thought the challenger had won, but then McCarthy made it clear that just the round was over.

Weichel came out swinging to start the second round and put the champion against the cage, but a quick left hook from the champion landed flush on his jaw and ended the fight. 

Patricio Freire is still the Bellator MMA featherweight champion by knockout only :32 seconds into the second round.
