ORLANDO, Fla. – The Professional Fighters League held official weigh-ins for 2022 PFL Challenger Series 5, featuring up-and-coming fighters in the lightweight division. In the main event, Brazilian knockout artist Bruno Miranda meets American up-and-comer Carson Frei. PFL Challenger Series is available exclusively on Fubo Sports Network as part of a fuboTV subscription that includes more than 100 sports, news and entertainment channels.
Miranda, who weighed in at 156.2 pounds, heads into this Friday’s main event bout riding an impressive four-fight winning streak. He has had experience competing all over the world, including stints in China and South Korea with ROAD FC. Frei, meanwhile, weighed-in at 155.2 pounds and will face arguably the toughest test of his career in Miranda. Frei comes into this fight having won three of his last four bouts.
In the co-main event, Damir Ferhatbegovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina faces B.J. Bland of New Zealand. Ferhatbegovic, who came in at 156 pounds, is a former Valor Fighting Challenge lightweight champion. He is unbeaten in his last three bouts. Bland, meanwhile, came in at 154 pounds and is riding a three-fight winning streak with back-to-back submission victories.
Also on the card, Canada’s Michael Dufort takes on Armenia’s Arut Pogosjan. Dufort, who tipped the scales at 155.4 pounds, boasts an impressive 100 percent stoppage rate, with all eight of his career wins coming by way of finish. Pogosjan meanwhile, tipped the scales at 155.8 pounds and heads into this fight having won five of his last six outings.
Kicking things off is a showdown between undefeated Israeli Yanal Ashmouz and American Dennis Hughes. Ashmouz, who weighed-in at 155.4 pounds, has won all of his fights so far by way of stoppage, with three knockouts and two submissions. Hughes, meanwhile, weighed-in at 154.6 pounds and is a former AKA lightweight champion.
