At the post-fight press conference for UFC 164, Dana White was asked what he would like to see next for Pettis, a bout with lightweight number one contender TJ Grant or a super fight with featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

White hesistated answering the question, and then informed the media that Anthony Pettis’ knee popped during the fight so no determination could be made in regards to his next fight.

It was a slight knee injury that forced Pettis to withdraw from his UFC featherweight title bout, so it is possible the injury wasn’t fully recovered despite Pettis taking the lightweight title shot three weeks after the featherweight bout he pulled out of.

It is likely Pettis will see a doctor after the post-fight conference and a orthopedic specialist later this week and more information will be available as to the new champion’s future.
