Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is on a three fight losing streak. He lost his title to Rafael Dos Anjos via Unanimous Decision, then lost to Eddie Alvarez via Split Decision, and then to Edson Barboza via Unanimous Decision. So with a champions mentality, he has made a challenging choice – dropping to 145.

The announcement came via hashtag – #145intheworks

Ariel Helwani confirmed the weight change with Pettis’ manager MalkiKawa, for MMA Fighting. Kawa further explained that the drop will be managed by diet guru Mike Dolce.

Pettis hopes to make his debut at 145 in August of this year. Potential super opponents include Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor, and Frankie Edgar.
