Tonight in the preliminary main event bout at UFC Fight Night 74, Frankie Perez earned the most dominant victory of his career, TKOing Sam Stout :54 seconds into the fist round. Then bizarrely, announced his retirement in his post-fight interview with Jon Anik.
At only twenty-six years of age, Perez was 9-2 as a professional and only began fighting in 2011. Perez made his UFC debut in January of 2015, a TKO loss to Johnny Case. Tonight if he found himself in his biggest fight and was super impressive defeating the sixteen fight UFC veteran Stout.
Perez told Anik after the fight: It’s all about my family. I’ve dedicated my life to this sport since I was 17 — and I’m 26 now…I’ve never taken a year off, or even a break. I’ve been fighting non-stop since I was 17. I’m just ready for the next chapter. I want to open up a school, find a girl and make some babies.
