Peers starting to get behind VanZant

With her most recent win over a more experienced Felice Herrig, Paige VanZant is starting to win over some of her peers, proving she may be deserving of her hype.

Paige VanZant recently announced a sponsorship deal with Reebok and fought on the main card of the UFC on FOX. In the past, some of the more experienced females in the sport commented that maybe she didn’t deserve some of what she is getting, but with her most recent win, a lot of her peers seems to have come around to join the VanZant hype train.

The win silenced many of the the 21-year-old’s critics, who believed her marketing push by the UFC was unearned. In addition to faith from the UFC, Reebok has backed VanZant, signing the strawweight contender to a sponsorship deal.

The hate doesn’t necessarily run deep among her peers. Many of the female fighters on the UFC’s roster say they understand the attention paid to VanZant.
