After he was replaced in his December UFC 107 bout with Thiago Alves by Jon Fitch last week, Paulo Thiago (11-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was left without an opponent. Apparently, though, the UFC has found a new one in undefeated UFC newcomer and Minnesota Martial Arts Academy’s Jacob Volkmann (10-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who will meet Thiago a month earlier at UFC 106.
The matchup was reported over the weekend by the Portugese-language Terra Magazine. However, MMAjunkie.com could not immediately reach Volkmann or MMAA owner Greg Nelson for confirmation.
Additionally, the UFC has not officially announced the fight for UFC 106, which takes place Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
