Shane Carwin made an intriguing post earlier today:
Paul Heymen @HeymanHustle is here handling the UFC Countdown shoot.
MMAPayout.com reports that
According to the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), Heyman was hired by the production company producing the UFC Countdown shows and not by the UFC. Heyman’s relationship with Lesnar probably helped in getting him the job. Heyman last produced spots for EA Sports MMA featuring the likes of Nick Diaz and Gilbert Melendez.
Paul Heyman is an entertainment producer, best-known for his career in professional wrestling as a promoter, manager, commentator and journalist. Heyman was the creative force behind Extreme Championship Wrestling’s rise to prominence in the 1990s. He has also worked in World Championship Wrestling, the American Wrestling Association and World Wrestling Entertainment, [perhaps most prominently developing Brock Lesnar’s character in the WWE.
When Brock moved to the UFC, he became the biggest PPV draw on Earth.
Should Heyman be able to duplicate that success, the effects on the sport could be extraordinary, as it is widely believed that the sole factor holding MMA back from mainstream domination is a breakthrough star.
