Overeem vs. NGannou in the co-main of UFC 218
Francis NGannou fights #1 contender Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 on December 2, 2017 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
UFC president Dana White is on record as saying French-Cameroonian heavyweight Francis NGannou is the next big thing in mixed martial arts.His last two fights, against Anthony Hamilton and Andrei Arlovski, lasted less than one round, combined, and each won a Performance Bonus.
He was to have fought #4 ranked Junior Dos Santos at UFC 215 on September 9 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Dos Santos was coming off a failed attempt to regain the UFC heavyweight title vs. Stipe Miocic at UFC 211 on May 13. With a win, the next stop for Ngannou was presumably a title shot. Unfortunately, JDS was been pulled from the fight over a potential anti-doping violation.
Now NGannou has a fight that even more transparently will lead to a title shot. He fights #1 contender Alistair Overeem at UFC 218. The event will be held on December 2, 2017 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
The pair had previously agreed to the fight on the social network.
