Japan has produced a lot of content that is weird to Western eyes and ears, some of it not mentionable. Now Alistar Overeem, the first man to earn a world title in both kickboxing and MMA, has entered the Ultimate Sumo Championship.

The first tournament from May, shown at bottom, featured Semmy Schilt, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Akebono, and the old UFC logo, among others. The second tournament was aired in Japan with a bracket that contains more familiar names:

Minowaman vs. Shinichi Suzukawa

Yanagiryuken vs. Wanderlei Silva

Kiyoshi Tamura vs. Yasuyuki Hirose

Alistair Overeem vs. Winner of a preliminary match (see below)
