Overeem defends against criticism
Alistair Overeem: “What is he doing training with me? We’re in the same gym. We’re teammates. We have lunch (together) and we drive around together.”

Leading up a scheduled title defense in September, Jon Jones was injured while training wrestling with Alistair Overeem. Earlier this week UFC President Dana White was asked about the situation and was critical of Jones’ team and especially Greg Jackson for the decision for Jones to train with now teammate Alistair Overeem. Today MMA Junkie caught up with the Dutch heavy weight who defended himself, coach, and team of White’s criticism:
(The injury was) very unfortunate, Overeem told MMAjunkie. This was just one of those freak accidents on a takedown. Listen, I was looking forward to that fight. Everybody was looking forward to that fight. Jon Jones was looking forward to it. Accidents happen. There’s no fault to blame.
What is he doing training with me? We’re in the same gym. We’re teammates. We have lunch (together) and we drive around together.
