Ortiz fined $2500 for post-fight antics

Soon after the announcer at Bellator MMA 131 announced Tito Ortiz as the winner of his bout with Stephan Bonnar, Ortiz didn’t waste time in disrespecting his opponent. Bonnar fell to the ground in disappointment and Ortiz threw water at him and flipped him off. Not a surprising reaction from Ortiz, but one that found him in trouble with the California State Athletic Commission:
Ortiz was docked $2,500 of a reported $300,000 purse for tossing water on Stephan Bonnar and then flipping him off following his split-call win in this past Saturday’s headliner at San Diego’s Valley View Casino.
California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Andy Foster today told MMAjunkie that Ortiz’s actions represented unsportsmanlike behavior, a fineable offense, and said the fighter later apologized for the behavior, which was broadcast live on Spike TV.
I consider the matter closed, and I feel confident that Tito will not have the same behavior in the future, Foster wrote via text.
