One-Legged Cage Fighter Wins MMA Fight

If you’ve ever watched a mixed martial arts fight, you know it is intense. And this fighter is not letting what happened to him as a child keep him from the ring.Matt Betzold was given poisoned candy when he was 6 years old, and doctors had to amputate his left leg below the knee. Betzold wears a prosthetic leg, but takes it off when he competes. Saturday night, he fought in his first Rage in the Cage event at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix.

“Some people may say I’m disabled, but I don’t look at it like that. I just have a disability,” he says. Betzold won the fight by way of tap out in the first round, making martial arts history. He also says he got a standing ovation after he won.
