ONE Championship star Diandra Martin crams a lot into her days, and her dual careers can’t help but cross over.

The Australian striker’s primary focus, however, is on her upcoming strawweight muay Thai bout with former world title challenger Jackie Buntan at “ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III” on Prime Video, which goes down live on Friday, May 5.

It’s a huge fight for Martin, who will compete during ONE’s first-ever U.S. event at the 1STBANK Center in Colorado, and a victory would greatly help her efforts in securing a shot at the divisional gold.

Despite her burgeoning muay Thai career, the 27-year-old did not want to let her college years go to waste and to this day, she still works as an exercise physiologist.

One of the realities of balancing her day job along with fighting, Martin says, is that she must face clients with some remnants of her battles.

“I have (had clients mention bruises) before. Especially after my Smilla (Sundell) fight, I had a couple of bruises. I had to wear makeup because there was a fair bit of bruising,” the Aussie confessed.

“It was quite funny. I had an older client that had only met me for the first time tell me that my eyeshadow on my left eye was a bit darker than my right. And I didn’t have the heart to tell him it was two black eyes. So, I just set off on my lunch break.”

The fight with Sundell was a tough one for Martin, who learned some valuable lessons about fighting in four-ounce gloves.

Those lessons were helpful in her second promotional appearance, as the Canberra native outpointed British dynamo Amber Kitchen at ONE on Prime Video 1 last August.

As the bumps and bruises left by Sundell remained, Martin says some of her newer clients were not aware of her muay Thai career and were mistakenly concerned for her welfare.

“A lot of people that come into my clinic will be like, ‘I’ve noticed that you’ve got a black eye.’ They’re usually super considerate,” she explained.

“They’re just like, ‘Is everything OK? Do I have to speak to your manager to make sure that everything at home is OK?’ So, a lot of people are really caring.”

But Martin can give as good as she gets in the ONE circle, and she plans to show that against Buntan at ONE Fight Night 10.

And should she take some shots in return, at least her clients now know about her double life.

“Most of my clients now know that I do this, unless they’re new clients,” Martin added. “So, if I come with a new bruise, they’re like, ‘Oh, who gave you that one?’ And we joke around about it.”
