Dutch legend Nieky Holzken may be on a mission to jump-start another run at the ONE lightweight kickboxing world title in his upcoming fight, but he’s also got other ideas in mind.

On Friday, June 9, the famed striker takes on German stud Arian Sadikovic at “ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov” on Prime Video, and an emphatic win could set him on course for a third meeting with reigning divisional king Regian Eersel.

At 39 years old, he’d love to have another crack at Eersel’s world championship before he finishes his illustrious combat sports career, but Holzken would also like to tick another major conquest off his bucket list before he bows out for good.

“I want to do MMA – one time or a couple of times, but then the money needs to be much higher than I get for kickboxing because it’s a different sport,” he said.

“I only trained, like, one-and-a-half years of BJJ. It’s a high risk for me. Because if I fight with somebody who has a good ground game, then it’s difficult for me.”

A ONE lightweight kickboxing world title showdown or an MMA debut would be the cherry on top for the Dutch legend.

But if neither comes to fruition, “The Natural” will still walk away content.

Holzken has been preparing for life after his competitive career for quite some time, and when he looks at what he’s done, both in and out of the ring, he holds his head high and reflects with pride.

“I already started with it. I have my own gym with a couple of hundred students and fighters, A-class fighters and B-class fighters, guys who fight for World Titles and European Titles. So, I already have my base for when I retire (from) kickboxing,” he said.

“I’m a father of two healthy children, and I’m lucky to have a happy marriage already. Sixteen years. I have two cars, and I have two houses. I have everything that I need. I can eat every day. So, I’m a blessed man.”
