ONE strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks (20-2) has taken to social media to remind everyone in his division of who the top dog is.

“The Monkey God” captured the strawweight crown with a dominant unanimous decision victory over longtime divisional king Joshua Pacio at ONE 164 last December, adding to his 20-2 record and capping off a perfect 4-0 run in the promotion so far.

Brooks has been relatively quiet since capturing the gold, but during a recent visit to Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, he started to make some noise again and pulled no punches.

On a video posted to his Instagram account, the outspoken American fired some warning shots at his fellow strawweights and even a few MMA fighters outside of his weight class.

“You have Gustavo Balart, you have people like Jeremy Miado, Lito Adiwang, they have this Mansur (Malachiev) guy coming through. It doesn’t matter, I’m running through all of those little motherf-ckers, it doesn’t really matter,” he said.

“At the end of the day, I’m looking forward to fighting some real competition, I don’t care if it has to be John Lineker.”

Known for his grueling training regime, Brooks has used his grappling skills, explosiveness, and relentless pacing to wear down his opponents.

But in recent bouts, the 30-year-old has shown a vastly improved striking game that ultimately frustrated Pacio – one of the strawweight division’s best strikers.

Now, Brooks feels confident – so confident, in fact, that he wants to display his talents against ONE flyweight muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who is one of the best standup practitioners in the entire combat sports world.

“I think that would be really cool for me to do four-ounce gloves, boxing with Rodtang. Rodtang leaves his hands down. I think that I could beat him in boxing,” he said.

“The Monkey God” didn’t stop there, though.

Ahead of ONE’s historic U.S, debut on May 5, Brooks indicated that he will have a close eye on the main event trilogy bout between current ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and longtime titleholder Adriano Moraes.

The strawweight king was clear that he will be ready for whoever emerges victorious, or anyone who dares oppose his claim to being the best fighter in the world today.

“Demetrious Johnson, I’m coming for you, man. Or Adriano Moraes, it doesn’t matter. I’m going to be coming after you guys hand, foot and nail to come and kill you,” he said.

“I’m literally the best in the world. There’s nobody like me.”
