ONE bantamweight world champion Fabricio Andrade has given his predictions for some of ONE Fight Night 13‘s biggest fights.
“Wonder Boy” will be in the building when the blockbuster event takes center stage at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok Thailand, this Friday, August 4, and he believes that ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Chingiz Allazov will retain his belt when he faces old foe Marat Grigorian in the main event.
“Yes, this is a very good fight. I think many striking fans are looking forward to this fight. Most of the fights that ONE Championship are making are fights that people were hoping to see for a long time, and this is one of those fights,” he said.
“Both these guys are very good. They have different styles, but I believe, in this fight, Allazov will have the advantage, and I think he’s going to keep his belt. Allazov’s advantages is that he has many weapons. He has many different weapons, and that is why he’s the very best fighter. He can do a lot of different things, and he’s unpredictable as well.
“Marat is more predictable, you know? He’s not so much of a kicker. He uses a lot of his boxing, he comes forward, but his main strength is his power. He believes in his power. And he always comes forward trying to knock his opponent down.”
In the co-main event, ONE strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks will venture up a weight class and over to a new sport when he challenges ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci for the divisional crown.
Andrade feels that despite “The Monkey God’s” Division I freestyle wrestling pedigree, taking on one of the world’s best grapplers in his native sport will be a bridge too far.
“I believe Musumeci is going to submit Jarred Brooks. I think it’s very different for MMA fighters to (compete in submission grappling) because they’re focused on training in muay Thai, boxing, jiu-jitsu, grappling, wrestling,” he said.
“And (to go up) against a guy who’s been training since he was young, training only jiu-jitsu. He’s been doing that every day in his life. Every day, he’s focused on that. So, you know, I’m pretty sure Musumeci is going to beat Jarred Brooks.”
ONE featherweight muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK.Saenchai will also look to kick off a run towards two-division glory when he faces Georgian star Davit Kiria under kickboxing rules.
“Wonder Boy” sees the 24-year-old Thai phenom’s well-rounded skill set winning out in his new striking venture, even though facing a longtime star of the sport in Kiria won’t be easy.
“Tawanchai versus Kiria is going to be a very good fight in kickboxing gloves. We are not used to seeing Tawanchai fighting under kickboxing rules, and Kiria brings a lot of experience in kickboxing rules,” he said.
“He’s (Tawanchai) a very smart fighter. He knows how to use and when to use his weapons. He’s got a lot of weapons as well, and he’s very powerful, too. He has a good combination of mental, body, and age. He’s still young, and he uses everything very well. So, I believe he’s going to pick up a win in this fight.”
ONE Fight Night 13 will be broadcast live and free on Prime Video for fans across North America with an Amazon subscription.
