Nick Newell found success in his professional mixed martial arts debut, defeating Dan Ford at a Cage Fighting Xtreme event at the JunglePlex in Plymouth, Mass., on Saturday night.
Newell won via technical knockout due to strikes at 3:00 of the first round.
FanHouse introduced you to Newell, who was born without a left hand, last week.
The 23-year-old had a 2-1 amateur MMA record before turning pro, and trains with both the Fighting Arts Academy in Springfield, Mass., and the Ultimate MMA Training Center in North Haven, Conn.
Newell was an all-state high school wrestler and also wrestled for four years at Western New England College, captaining the team in his senior year before taking up MMA.
