UFC featherweight Charles Oliveira weighed 150.5 for his fight tonight with Myles Jury. He will have to pay 20% of his purse to Jury. It was the fourth time in nine fights he has missed weight
I don’t know how to explain what happened with the weight, said Oliveira to Matt Erickson forMMAjunkie. Things went wrong on the scale. But that’s in the past now. Now the focus is putting weight back on because tomorrow we go to war.
I know that at the end of it all, I’ll have my hand raised. I don’t know what happened. I stepped on the scale, and saw one weight. I stepped on again, and saw another. I don’t know. Tomorrow I’ll be the winner.
I don’t know what happened. You guys saw what the display showed. Now I’m ready. I’m recovering. And tomorrow is a day of victory.
In Oliveira’s defense, he was not the sole fighter to experience scale oddities in Florida:
•C.B. Dollaway was over by 1.0, but dropped 1.5 when he removed his briefs.
•Danny Castillo was over by 2.0, but so mins later, when the weigh-ins were over, he was 156.
