Nurmagomedov hospitalized during weight cut, out of UFC 209
“UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov was transported to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center Thursday evening due to weight management medical issues.”

Lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov was taken to the hospital prior to weighing in for his UFC 209 interim lightweight title fight vs. Tony Ferguson, due to complications with the weight cut. The fight has been canceled.
UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov was transported to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center Thursday evening due to weight management medical issues,” said the UFC in an official statement. “He was treated and has been discharged. The scheduled interim lightweight championship bout between Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 has been canceled on the doctor’s recommendation.
This was Nurmagomedov’s second weight cutting failure. At UFC 160 he weighed in at 158.5 for the 156-pound, non-title fight vs. Abel Trujillo.
Ferguson weighed in successfully at 154.5, and thus will make his show money. Whether Ferguson is now the #1 contender and presumptive next fight for Conor McGregor is not known. What is known, at a minimum, is that El Cucuy has class.
