The main event of UFC 200 featured a women’s bantamweight title fight between champion Miesha Tate and number one contender Amanda Nunes.
Amanda Nunes was supposed to just be happy to be there. She was the placeholder title contender while the UFC figured out whether Miesha Tate would fight Ronda Rousey or Holly Holm next.
Instead, the Brazilian fighter crashed the UFC 200 party. Nunes demolished Tate in the main event at T-Mobile Arena, winning via rear-naked choke Saturday night and claiming the championship. The time of the stoppage was 3:16.
The beginning of the end came when Nunes landed a head kick following a scramble. She then opened up with crisp technical striking, landing lefts and rights as she bloodied and wobbled Tate.
Tate, who had trouble making weight on Friday, covered up on the ground as Tate continued raining down punches. She sunk in a rear-naked choke, causing Tate to tap and giving Nunes her 10th career finish.
