Northcutt opponent fails drug test for UFC 192
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has announced that UFC lightweight Francisco Trevino failed a test for marijuana, following his fight with Sage Northcutt.

UFC lightweight Francisco Trevino had a bad day at UFC 192. First he failed to make weight, coming in at 160 for a 156 lbs limit division; he did not look like he went through a long, hard cut. Then he lost via ferocious TKO in the first. Then he shoved referee Herb Dean after the loss.
Now the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has announced that Trevino failed a recreational drug test, with a urine sample showing 85 ng/ml of marijuana metabolites. The TDLR’s limit is 50 ng/ml.
Trevino is now suspended for 90 days, pending a hearing. If found to be in violation, he will be subject to a probative suspension, which is something like a suspended sentence suspension – the fighter can continue to fight if there are no more violations. If there was a second violation, the year would kick in, on top of whatever suspension was meted out for the second violation. Trevino will also face a fine of up to $5,000.
Many athletic commissions now use the WADA standard of 150 ng/ml, but Texas takes a more conservative approach to marijuana use in combat sports at this time.
In positive news, all fighters on the card were tested, and Trevino’s was the sole failure.
