A recent report on the Brazilian MMA Web site Tatame stated that Strikeforce was planning a show on July 17 in Australia, headlined by Josh Barnett vs. Geronimo “Mondragon” Dos Santos.
However, sources close to the organization tell MMA Fighting that the report is untrue and that Strikeforce is not planning any show Down Under any time soon.
Sources also tell MMA Fighting that the organization has no deal in place with Barnett at this time.
Tatame called Gerônimo Mondragon earlier today and the heavyweight revealed he’d fight former UFC champion Josh Barnett in an upcoming Strikeforce event in Australia. Tatame called Mondragon against, and the heavyweight explained the misunderstanding. I’m sorry, I was wrong.
