No Americans won at UFC 134

UFC 134, the UFC’s first show in Brazil since 1998, was artfully designed for a Brazilian crowd. Although many of the fights were fiercely competitive, the astonishingly passionate crowd lifted the Brazilian fighters up so high that of the four Brazilians who lost, all but one lost to a fellow Brazilian.

And not a single American won, for the first time in UFC history.

Even Canada got a win. And Bulgaria.

Given the expected expansion in the sport over the coming years, this will in time doubtless become a regular occurence.

And given the intense cross cultural and cross national appeal of mixed martial arts, no is likely to care much.
