Nick: If Conor can hit Nate, he can put up some fight with Mayweather
Nick Diaz: “I feel like if he could hit my brother, he could hit, he could definitely put up somewhat of a fight with Floyd, if not actually bring him an actual challenge.”
The great Nick Diaz spoke recently with Eric Kowal‘s My MMA News, for a wide-ranging interview. Diaz is provisionally suspended and faces a UFC anti-doping policy violation for whereabouts failure. This is one of USADA’s odder aspects, where an athlete isn’t caught for doping, but is instead doing something that has to happen in order for USADA to catch a doping violation, like letting them know where you are at all times. It could be because the athlete is doing something wrong, or it could be Nick Diaz isn’t great at letting a huge corporation know where he is at all times. You decide which.
They know where I’m at though, somebody over there is not doing their job, said Diaz. I mean realistically they showed up to one of my dispensary signings. Like I said, I gotta do what I can to work with when I’m not fighting. The whole cannabis industry thing is on hit right now. So yeah, I’ll book an appearance over there and I’ll go and smoke a bunch of weed, and it’s a good time. So of course, you know word is out I’m gonna be here, they show up. I’m not hard to find, I’m on Snapchat and Instagram every day.”
Sometimes I’m like, ‘Why am I on Snapchat and Instagram every day?’ Well, it’s kind of cool. But I’m always trying to be somewhere where there’s something going on.
Once he is off suspension, he will be eligible to fight, but it is unclear when that is happening.
“Well, right now it’s not on me, said Diaz. I always talk about this four-year gap, there’s a four-year gap. You have Robbie Lawler, he’s still in there, and then there came George St-Pierre. He came after I was already fighting. I was in the UFC before that guy even came. I was in the first 46 people of a roster of 600 people. I could be wrong on the numbers, but I’m not a number guy. That’s why I’m a fighter, I don’t play a numbers game. I don’t try to go out there and win on point. I’m like ‘We’re gonna fight.’

And the one inescapable thing in the MMA space at present is Conor McGregor’s boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
As far as MMA, I wanna say there’s like maybe five guys that do jiu-jitsu that have an actual level of understanding when it comes to boxing,” said Diaz. “He obviously, he does.
