Once Mike Tyson was the greatest fighter of his generation. Then he left the team put together by Cus D’Amato, and ‘Iron’ Mike became more a cautionary tale. Although mixed martial arts is competed singly, it is trained as a team. And the top athletes in the sport are more and more gravitating towards super camps.

Francis Ngannou is one of the great talents to ever sign with the UFC. He has the potential to the next big thing, an international superstar.

“The Predator’ was trained by the highly-respected Fernand Lopez, founder of Paris’s MMA Factory. He left Paris for Vegas, but trained mostly at the UFC Performance Institute, with Lopez. That was keeping a foot in both worlds – the individual approach and the team approach. However, there’s little in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead animals.

Following a failed title shot at Stipe Miocic at UFC 220 in January, NGannou is apparently going to train with John Wood at Syndicate MMA, one of the top camps in the country.

Ngannou fights Derrick Lewis at UFC 226 on July 7, 2018. ‘The Black Beast’ offered a response to Ngannou.
