Nevada AC delays Diaz’s hearing

Nick Diaz tested positive for marijuana following a UFC 183 loss on Jan. 31. A formal punishment, which would likely include a suspension and fine, hasn’t yet been issued.

Nick Diaz was supposed to have a hearing in front of the Nevada state athletic commission today but it has been rescheduled for some time in the next month or two.

Diaz was scheduled to appear before the NSAC in March but asked for a delay. The fighter recently retained the services of a New York-based law firm – Seham, Seham, Meltz & Petersen, LLP – to address what Diaz perceived as irregularities in his post-UFC 183 drug test, which marked the third drug-testing failure of his career due to marijuana. All of the failed tests came in Las Vegas and under the NSAC’s jurisdiction.

Diaz was drug tested three times on the night of UFC 183. He failed one test due to marijuana metabolites, but he also passed two of the tests.
