This weekend, the most dominant female MMA fighter in the sport’s history headlines a UFC event in her native Brazil.
This week, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino is giving her fans inside access to her life. The Nação Cyborg (Cyborg Nation) series details her preparation for Saturday’s headlining fight with Lina Lansberg.
Cris starts out on the scale, which shows around 157 lbs. As the bout is a catchweight, the customary one pound allowance will not be given. Cris has to make 140, so 17 long pounds to go.
The drop seems a little cruel. Cris is the champ at 145. She is never going to make 135. There is 0 indication that Ronda Rousey will ever move up in weight to fight her.
And MMAjunkie’s Fernanda Prates reports that Lansberg would have taken the fight at 145.

Cris does some relatively light exercise to promote water loss including kicking around a soccer ball, pummelling, and GnPing a floor bag.
At the close, MMA coach Carlo Prator makes a detailed case for the UFC to start a 145 women’s MMA division, in English and Portuguese. Unfortunately, UFC president Dana White has said repeatedly that the league won’t be adding a 145 women’s division anytime soon.
Cris Cyborg fights Lina Lansberg in the main event of UFC Fight Night 95 on September 24, 2016 at Ginásio Nilson Nelson in Brasília, Brazil.
