Gegard Mousasi is coming off one of the most impressive finishes of his UFC career this past weekend and looking forward wants to fight a big name at a big event:
I would love to fight Uriah Hall, Mousasi (39-6-2 MMA, 6-3 UFC), who this past weekend knocked out Thiago Marreta Santos at UFC 200, told MMAjunkie Radio. Even Derek Brunson. Of course, if I want to fight for the title, I need the guy who’s better known.
Hall (12-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC), of course, handed Mousasi a spectacular upset loss when he landed a spinning back kick and flying knee at UFC Fight Night 75. Brunson (15-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) is the guy Mousasi was supposed to fight at this past Saturday’s UFC 200 event before Brunson scratched from the card.
Running it back against those opponents might satisfy Mousasi’s competitive nature, but perhaps not advance his career. To do that, he needs to fight an opponent whom every UFC fan follows, in a place everyone knows.
New York, Anderson Silva, Mousasi said. Or Vitor Belfort.
