Committe Report on MMA Unified Rules Guidelines

Key points include:

Committee unanimously agrred to accept the current, common weight divisions.

Tape and guaze only on the hand. Glove at a minimum of four ounces approved by a commission.

No difference in number of rounds or length of rounds in female fights.

Committee agreed to stomping the foot remaining legal.

Committee agreed that heel kicks to kindey and 12-6 elbows should remain illegal.

Back of the head definitoon. Mohawk above the ears, PLUS nape of the neck from the ear down. Roughly speaking, strike that touches the ear should be okay.

No knees to the head of a grounded fighter.

Can grab your own shorts, but not your opponent’s shorts.

Low Blow Foul – if you suffer a low blow, you are guaranteed up to five minutes to recover. If it is a foul other than a low blow, you have up to five minutes, but you are not guaranteed five minutes.

Consider having the referee meet personally with the fighter.

Unified Rules were adopted with the understanding that they may be made more stringent by member Commissions. Motion passes unanimously.
