Chael Sonnen had low hopes before Saturday’s Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacuiao contest.

“This fight reminds me of the Kentucky Derby, if the favorite horse ran away from the other horses the entire time,” Sonnen said presciently.

FMJ was being FMJ, doing what he had to do to win the majority of the rounds, and doing nothing to win the hearts and minds of the fans. More was expected of Manny Pacquiao, and post fight a possible explanation emerged.

Three weeks ago, Pacquiao got an MRI which found a tear in his right shoulder. Pacquiao informed the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and the US Anti-Doping Agency approved a treatment that included drugs. However, on fight night, the NSAC denied Pacquiao the use of lidocaine and another unnamed drug.

In the end though, it was what it was, and Twitter reacted.

•About to relax and watch the fight. Inspiring to see an event like this. 10 weeks today I turn that arena green, white and orange.

•My first time headlining the MGM will enter in at No.33 in the highest MGM gates. Higher than Mayweather/Marquez and just below Tyson/Botha.

Joe Lauzon @JoeLauzon

It’s suddenly clear why #MayPac negotiations were so tough… Pac wanted Jimmy Kimmel but Mayweather wanted the Biebs AND The Burger King.

Sean Strickland @SStricklandMMA

@RondaRousey would literally murder @FloydMayweather in a real fight, that’s why I don’t watch boxing. Lol

Danny Castillo @lastcall155

Manny beat the sh^t outta Tim Bradley and lost. There’s absolutely no way manny is winning on Mayweather’s promotion.

Brandon Vera @Verafied

I respect the science… Especially to use in MMA. That being said………the sport of boxing is s—. Your champ can run and win. Congratz Mayweather, boxing is dead.

 Mike Pierce @MikePierce170
