BRUSSELS – GY Sports & Entertainment CEO Gokhan Yildizli announced today that the main event of MMA Bushido 84 will now be for the featherweight championship when the promotion debuts in Brussels.
“We are excited to bring the featherweight championship to Brussels on June 19” Yildizli said.
The main event of MMA Bushido 84 will feature a featherweight title between Brave FC and UAE Warriors veteran Kaan “Genghis” Ofli and Bellator MMA veteran Jair “JJ” Junior.
“MMA Bushido 84: Ofli vs. Jair” takes place Sunday, June 19 at Kraainem Events in Brussels. The entire main card will be live on pay-per-view on KOKFights.tv at 7 p.m. CEST.
Tickets for MMA Bushido 84, which features only VIP tables, are sold out.
Ofli (7-1-1) was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, and is of Turkish descent. The featherweight prospect and Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt is currently ranked No. 7 in the Australia and New Zealand region according to Tapology.com. Currently on a five-fight winning streak and with only one loss in his nine total fights, Kaan has also spent time training in Auckland’s City Kickboxing with Alexander Volkonvski, Israel Adesanya, Shane Young, Brad Riddell, Kai Kara-France, Carlos Ulberg and many more great athletes.
Ofli returns to action after a decision win this past May at Eternal MMA 59. He competed on short notice for BRAVE FC in 2018, when he earned a unanimous decision over Filipino Jeremy Pacatiw. In 2019, he made his UAE Warriors debut victory, after which he was scheduled two times to fight for the UAE Warriors featherweight title against the champion Do Gyeom Lee – in the first one, the Korean was forced to withdraw, and the second time it was canceled due to COVID restrictions in Australia. Kaan makes his MMA Bushido debut in Brussels.
Junior (6-3) from Curitiba, Brazil, will make his MMA Bushdio debut with a 6-3 record, including three first-round submission wins. Junior comes in with five submission wins to his name, so we know he is dangerous on the mat. Junior is a Bellator veteran where he lost his last fight by unanimous decision over the tough Tajik Khurshed Kakhorov. The Brazilian is currently based in the U.K. and has fought across the world, with fights in his native country of Brazil, as well as in London and China.
