Few days there was a law accepted which says:
“It’s forbidden to organise any kind of sports event which has so called free fighting two or more people (fights in cage etc), and participation in such an event.”
Law came just few days before WFC event (world freefight challenge) where best serbian fighters are supposed to fight, some better european fighters + Jose Landi Jons – Pele is also on the fightcard.
Really bad news, i hope it won’t affect other countries in region, like Croatia or Slovenia.

jfrank – Do you have any links with this news. The FILA World Championships are schedueled in Serbia this year, I wonder if this will affect the Pankration and Combat Grappling?

There are a lot of loopholes, well see. Here in Croatia this thing didn’t happen, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it would.

Update:
Ministry sent the following statement regarding WFC event which will happen in six days:
All things considered, ministry has decided that competition which will be organized it’s not contrary to the article #158. of sports law and that internetional competition in sports fight “MMA” should not be forbidden.
It’s a rough translation, but the main point is:
Free fighting in cage is forbidden
MMA event is allowed (probably if it’s in ring)
Stupid lawmakers.
