Following his loss to Travis Browne at a UFC Fight Night in Boston in January, heavyweight Matt Mitrione officially appealed the decision to the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission. Mitrione believed that the referee’s lack of properly officiating the bout contributed to the loss and was requesting the bout be changed to a no-contest.

Today the Massachusetts commission met to discuss Mitrione’s appeal and rendered their decision:

The Massachusetts State Athletic Commission today voted unanimously to uphold the result of a third-round TKO loss suffered by Matt Mitrione against Travis Browne at January’s UFC Fight Night 81, also electing not to discipline the fight’s referee.

Fosco said the commission’s vote was unanimous on both decisions. MSAC spokesperson Jen Cobis confirmed the vote to MMAjunkie. Mitrione was not immediately reachable for comment.
