“He can go out there like his last fight and fight somebody that’s subpar,” Mir on Monday told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “The only problem is that you have to go out there and really be devastating to get any kind of positive criticism.”

Cormier (11-0 MMA, 8-0 SF) got plenty of positive feedback following “Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine,” but mostly for his callout of Mir (16-6 MMA, 14-6 UFC), whom he was scheduled to fight this past fall before injuries intervened.

Mir was dismissive of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champ’s second-round TKO over the little-known Dion Staring in the co-main event of this past Saturday’s show at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

“He’s in a situation right now where I don’t think many people were even moved by his fight,” Mir said. “I think the most impressive thing he did in the whole fight was calling me out.”
