UFC women’s bantamweight #1 contender Miesha Tate recently did a wide-ranging live fan AMA for the Seattle Times.

Jorge_Redbull: Meisha, Youve stated that you’d be interested in fighting cyborg. Can you see that fight happening in 2016? If so, what do you think would be the best way to get cyborg and the fans interested in the fight? Good luck on your title shot! 🙂

Miesha Tate: I think the Cyborg fight is still a ways off from happening so it’s not really on my immediate radar, but I think the fight sells itself

Jamie Wiesner: Is the third Rousey fight in negotiation?

Miesha Tate: my management has not heard anything from the UFC about the rousey fight yet so I am just training hard regardless of what happens next

YeaItsJ_Mar: Miesha, Anything your focused(Training wise) on as you prepare for you third belt opportunity to look to dethrone Ronda?

Miesha Tate: I’m really focused on not making the same mistakes I did before, most all of Ronda’s takedowns I handed to her, that was dumb and I won’t make the same mistake again

Dylan Rathneau: What are you doing differently to prepare for your next fight against Ronda considering she got a 34 second KO in her last fight?

Miesha Tate: Well, I don’t think Bethe compares as a fighter to any of the girls in the top 10 so I don’t really value that fight that much, I know I wouldn’t go down like that and I wouldn’t turn and run so I get punched in the back of the head, rookie mistakes by a rookie

Frannz: “Keeping your distance is the key to beat Ronda”. How accurate is this statement and how would you apply it a fight against her?

Miesha Tate: well it’s the obvious perspective, but there is a lot more to it than just keeping distance you can’t run all over the octagon and expect to win, so that may be part of it but to be the champ you have to BEAT the champ

JWBragg: Did you see anything in Ronda’s last fight that makes you more optimistic going into a third fight with her?

Miesha Tate: the last fight was hard to take anything away from really, I think Bethe is no where near the level she was competing with so she made some bad mistakes and in my opinion just isn’t that good

Gator2117: r u more ready to beat Ronda or become ufc champion

Miesha Tate: I’m more confident then I have ever been and confidence is a huge factor, and I’ll be much happier entering a fight with Ronda this time with out all the draining TUF filming

AlexFairfax: Since you’ve fought her twice now and went longer than anyone else, though you lost, does that give you a real insight and edge on not only seeing a hole, but a real way to win?

Miesha Tate: I think the element of surprise is a huge factor, I think I have some things in my arsenal that I didn’t before and Ronda has never been challenged the way I will challenge her, she knows I’m her biggest threat to the title right now in the division and I am ready to bring the fight to her

hugely, now I know more of her tendancy’s and go to moves, before that 2nd fight with her I was much less aware of what to expect because her fights were so short largely due to her unique fighting style

Matt: Miesha, do you even lift bro? Also, seeing you’re a better striker (albeit, not by too much) than Ronda, what are your thoughts on her current striking game? Do you think she will try to box with you this time? Seeing her takedowns aren’t really a surprise factor for you anymore.

Miesha Tate: I think she thinks she will strike with me but I think once I crack her a good one she will resort to her Judo once again

LindsayBowden: Does Ronda intimidate you at all? When you step in the octagon are you pretty confident with yourself? What do you recommend to other people that go up against Ronda?

Miesha Tate: feeling intimidated isn’t something I do ever, I am a competitor I welcome the challenge never shy away

Jun: Any special training done to prevent armbar? I follow you on instagram but didn’t see many pics of you training w Judokas (Judo players)

Miesha Tate: you said you follow my instagram I’m training at a judo gym while in WA you must have seen pix! that’s part of the camp this time so yes

Juju: Hey miesha I know you’ve had problems with ronda on the ultimate fighter and even before that do you consider her a friend now or is that bad blood still there?

Miesha Tate: still there, not friens

Jenny: What did you think of Ronda Rousey’s recent comment that she could beat Floyd Mayweather? Is that far-fetched?

Miesha Tate: No, I agree with her Floyd is a great great boxer, but boxers meet in the center and agree to box, when you take that away and someone rushes in and the ref doesn’t break up the clinch for you and you don’t know how to wrestle or stop a throw, I’m sorry he’s going down and from there she would armbar the hell out of him

GaryCasteel: do you think Rondas recent attention to a “fight” with Floyd Mayweather is good for MMA or for womens athletics in general?

Miesha Tate: I think if it puts more eyes on what we do then it’s good overall

tatd87: Have you watched any of the movies Ronda has appeared in and if so what do you think of them?

Miesha Tate: No I haven’t actually, did you?

HayleyBosworth: Aside from yourself (obviously!) who in the division do you think poses the biggest threat to Rousey? I’ve heard Holm mentioned as a potential, but I’m gonna go with Zingano..despite what happened last time! Sending love from the UK!

Miesha Tate: I think Amanda Nunes actually

Wolf: In sara’s last fight she didn’t show the fire in the belly to win? Your take

Miesha Tate: yea I agree, she got hit and made the choice to turn and drop she just didn’t want it bad enough

Franz: Do you know if Reebok will be making changes to the women’s fight kit following Smith’s mishap?

Miesha Tate: yea, I do I know they really are trying and they have taken on a huge project with the UFC

Randy: could you make 115 lb? and if yes would you ever consider it?

Miesha Tate: I wish I could make 115 but I don’t think it’s ever going to be something I seriously consider although there are some girls in that division I’d live to beat the breaks off of lol

howmuchabsyoudoon: how much abs you do on daily basis? 🙂

Miesha Tate: I think my abs come from the rotational stuff I do like punching and whatnot I don’t do a ton of ab workouts

tatd87: Who has been the biggest challenge for you in the octagon?

Miesha Tate: besides ronda, I would say Mcmann, she hit a lot harder than I expected at first and I had to rally up lol

Briionna: After you win the title fight 🙂 who would you like to fight next or rematch?

Miesha Tate: Zingano
