NEW YORK – Combate Global today announced a five-bout fight card headlined by a lightweight main event matchup between battle-tested Mexican standout Ivan “Choko” Castillo (22-13) and Chilean submission expert Claudio “The Spider” Quintana (8-4) on Friday, live on Univision and TUDN USA in the U.S. from Miami.

Castillo went unbeaten in Combate Global action in 2021, defeating three straight opponents over the course of the year.

Like Castillo, the 30-year-old Quintana, who hails from Temuco, Chile and fights out of the Chicago-based Valle Flow Striking Academy, has won his last five straight fights, with four of the victories coming by way of knockout or submission.

Castillo’s resume includes a unanimous decision victory over two-time world champion and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Luis “Baboon” Palomino on May 4, 2019.

Combate Global’s main card on April 29 will feature another lightweight contest between Hugo “The Hooligan” Flores (9-4) of Chicago via Guadalajara, Mexico, and Richie Palomino (5-2) of Santa Ana, Calif.

In featured women’s flyweight (125 pounds) action, Mariel Celimen (1-1) of Miami will take on Tyler Schaefer (0-1) of San Diego, Calif.

The preliminary bout card will be highlighted by the return of 2021 Copa Combate tournament competitor and Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt Cristian “Scorpio” Barraza (8-4) of Santiago, Chile. Barraza will face off with Trevor Wells (5-3) of Murrieta, Calif. in a 130-pound catchweight affair.
