Mendes: ‘Only thing that makes sense’ is another title shot

Chad Mendes is without a doubt the current number one contender in the featherweight division. The only problem is that the only two losses of his professional MMA career came in title fights to current champion Jose Aldo. With his most recent win against number four ranked Ricardo Lamas, where does that put Mendes? Well according to him, perhaps in a another title shot:
“I’ve been trying to figure out who I would fight after this, if I were to go out there and beat Ricardo. The only thing that makes sense in my mind is back for that title,” Mendes said at Saturday afternoon’s post-fight press conference. “We’ve just got to wait to see what happens with Aldo-McGregor and Frankie-Faber. So we’ll see.
“I’m kind of just in a weird spot right now.”
