Mendes: Couple guys in top ten destroy McGregor

Conor McGregor is currently ranked third in the featherweight division, but will next fight for the world title. But if you ask Chad Mendes, who is ranked second, there is more than one guy in the top ten that would beat McGregor in a fight, nevermind the champion Jose Aldo:

I think Aldo’s going to beat him. A lot of people are saying that Conor’s striking is going to be too much for Aldo, which blows my mind because Aldo’s known to have the best striking in the division. I think Conor’s stance is way too wide. Aldo’s going to tear his legs up with leg kicks. And then if, you know, if Aldo for whatever reason is getting tagged on his feet, a lot of times don’t remember this or realize this, but Aldo has a great blast double. I mean, we saw the fight with Mark Hominick. When Hominick would start tagging him up, he would blast him off his feet and Aldo’s a black belt. So he has a great ground game and a lot of people forget that. Conor doesn’t have any ground game. We’ve seen him get taken down by Siver who’s not even a wrestler. I think all in all, Aldo’s going to stay the champ.

Though the 29-year-old California native shrugged off any comments McGregor has made about him, he was intrigued by Lamas’ 7-minute video in which he depicts a characted dubbed The Delirious Conrad McGillicutty and mocks McGregor. No matter who wins between Lamas and Mendes, it seems they both want a crack at squaring off with the Dublin native.

In my opinion, I wouldn’t care if it was me or Lamas that fought Conor. You know, Conor hasn’t fought a wrestler and there’s so many guys in the division that are low top ten’rs or that are in the top ten that would completely destroy Conor. But he’s gone around those types of guys. Myself, Lamas, Nik Lentz, Guida, any of these guys that have wrestling that can move and take a punch would destroy Conor. I’d just want to see it happen and I’d love to be the guy to do it. But all in all, it just needs to go down.
