Melvin Guillard signs with Bellator MMA

Melvin Guillard spent nine years in the UFC, going 12-9 (1 NC). There he broke the legendary BJ Penn’s record for most KO’s in the lightweight division with eight, an accolade which he still holds to this day.
‘The Young Assassin’ was released and landed at WSoF, where he beat Gesias Cavalcante in his debut. Then he missed weight for a title fight with Justin Gaethje, turning it into a non title fight. Then he failed to get in his medicals for his next fight, and was released.
Now Guillard, 32, has been signed to a multi-year, multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA. A debut date and opponent will be announcedin the near future.
Born in New Orleans, the knockout artist has honed his skills at some of the top MMA gyms in the world including Jackson’s MMA, Blackzilians, Grudge Training Center and American Top Team, where he currently trains.
