McGregor: I’ll make you beg me to follow the rules

At the MayMac post weigh-in faceoff, Conor McGregor continued to taunt Floyd Mayweather.

You look about 160 and all. You look blown up. Let’s see what you can do, b****.

Mayweather weighed in at 149.5 for the 154 pound division, indicating that he weighed in at his walk around weight. McGregor, on the other hand, weighed in at 153, and will likely weigh around 168 when he steps into the ring Saturday night. The extra size will help him absorb blows better, but whether the weight will help him against the magically agile Mayweather is another question entirely.

McGregor, however, was utterly, utterly confident.

“That’s the worst shape I’ve ever seen him in,” said McGregor, as transcribed by for The National. “Trust me on that.”

“I’m a professional, I make weight, that’s dedication, that’s focus. I’ll be a lot bigger than him tomorrow, closer to 170.”

Mayweather was undaunted.

“I’ve been here before,” he said. “I know what it takes for a fight of this magnitude. Weight doesn’t win fights, fighting wins fights. It won’t go the distance. Mark my words — I’m not worried about the scales.”
