The two biggest figures in mixed martial arts are former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

Rousey is a long time pro wrestling fan. She and her friends regularly attend pro wrestling matches. Her fight name, ‘Rowdy’, comes from pro wrestling icon ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper. And the UFC once briefly allowed her to appear in a WWE event.

During a recent UFC 202 media event, McGregor was asked if the fans might ever see him, too, in pro wrestling.

“For the most part, those WWE guys are p***ies, to be honest,” replied McGregor, as transcribed by Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting. “They’re messed up p***ies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock, he got in and fought, but at the end of the day he was juiced up to the f***ing eye balls, so how can I respect that? And then what’s the other guy? The other guy hasn’t fought yet, so I don’t know about him yet.”

The “other guy” McGregor referenced is former WWE champion CM Punk, who will finally make his MMA debut at UFC 203 on September 10 vs. Mickey Gall. Still, McGregor was not all anti-rasslin.

“There’s some dons in that wrestling game,” he said. “The McMahons, they’re dons. Triple H is a don. The Rock is a don. But the rest of them are p***ies.”

“I haven’t really thought of that to be honest. Again, that’s a little more show business. This is the fight business.”

McGregor is currently the best trash talker in the sport. The trash talk G.O.A.T. is Muhammad Ali, who drew inspiration from pro wrestler Gorgeous George. So given McGregor theatricality, the question is a reasonable one.

But the answer is apparently a firm “no.”
